InSphero AG, the pioneer of 3D cell-based assay technology, announced that the company is making their patented Akura™ 96 and 384 Spheroid Microplates available to researchers in the Indian market by signing a distribution agreement with Bionova Supplies , the leading supplier of world class brand in the field of Biotechnology and Scientific Instruments in India. “The Akura™ Plate Formats, engineered specifically for 3D cultures of spheroids and organoids, simplify aggregation and handling of spheroids and organoids and facilitates integration of 3D models into cell-based assay workflows” said Dr. Frauke Greve, Senior product manager at InSphero. “We are excited to support local researchers with our industry-ready solutions which will help them accelerate their innovative work.” Over 10 years of development in cooperation with cell culture experts has resulted in a scalable and reproducible microplate design with superior functionality:

- The plates have the unique SureXchange™ feature to prevent unintended spheroid and organoid aspiration during near-complete medium exchange required in many applications and proved to be a key enabler for robust lab automation and screening programs
- A highly stable, non-adherent surface coating preserves spheroid/organoid morphology and functionality in long-term cultures
- The ANSI/SLAS plates allow enhanced imaging speed, resolution and improved high content image quality
To complement the ultra-low attachment (ULA) Akura™ Spheroid Microplates, the Akura™ Plus Hanging-drop plates are engineered to enable gravity-assisted formation of uniform spheroids while completely preventing surface interactions of the cells. This approach is suitable for many cell types which do not normally form spheroids on ULA surfaces. Transfer of formed spheroids into Akura™ 96 Spheroid Microplates is possible in a single step.
“Building positive relationships in business is one of the most important foundations for success. It gives us an immense pleasure to have InSphero on board with their complete range of 3D Cell culture solutions” comments Sandeep C, managing partner at Bionova. “Through the extended partnership with InSphero Bionova is further unlocking the world of 3D cell culture to the Indian customers.” Get started with your 3D Cell Culture research here: bionovasupplies.in/contact Discover Akura™ Spheroid Microplates here: shop.insphero.com
